The Dana on Mission Bay Appoints Omar Armas as Executive Chef
The Dana on Mission Bay and its signature restaurant, Firefly Eatery & Bar, announce the appointment of Omar Armas as Executive Chef, who brings 17 years of culinary expertise to the kitchen. His passion for cooking, combined with his love of travel, has led him to work for restaurants in Tijuana, Italy, Brazil, Quintana Roo, China, Mexico City, and Spain. From staging at the three Michelin-starred restaurant Quique Dacosta in Alicante, Spain, to working with several S. Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants recipients, and experience as a private chef, Armas brings a breadth of global experience. Currently, he is also the chef-owner of Caliche Taqueria and Malia Brewery, both in Ensenada. As Firefly’s new Executive Chef, Armas brings a fun, coastal California menu with a Baja influence to the table with an emphasis on vegetarian and vegan dishes.
New Intimate Whale Watching Experience Out of the Bay
San Diego Whale Watch is offering the newest premier whale watching experience with Sea Scout, a 33-foot vessel that hosts an intimate whale watching tour out of Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina The excursions accommodate up to six passengers and provides an opportunity for guests to travel further in search of wildlife in San Diego. In addition to whale watching, this exciting new adventure allows guests to see beautiful local wildlife in their natural habitats off the coast.
Wellness Lounge Day Spa’s New Tropical Glow Facial
The recently opened Wellness Lounge Day Spa at Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina introduced a new Tropical Glow Facial, allowing spa guests to indulge their skin with the nourishing properties of all natural, plant-based ingredients. The treatment’s Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin A work together to brighten and rejuvenate guests’ skin. Available for $150, the 60-minute treatment includes cleansing, exfoliating, extracting and a relaxing arm & neck massage.
Healthy “CBD” Glow Facial at Paradise Point Resort and Spa
The Spa at Paradise Point has unveiled a new Healthy Glow facial using CBD and hemp oil to help soothe rough, stressed and tired skin. The naturally derived cosmeceutical treatment is made with the use of clean formations containing at least 95% ingredients of natural origin, helping restore a radiant glow for all skin types. In combination with The Spa’s “light therapy” 100 light emitting diodes in red mode and 62 LED lights in blue mode work together to smooth wrinkles, diminish discoloration and clear acne for a beautiful youthful complexion. The Healthy CBD Glow Facial is priced at $175.
Bayside S’mores Experience at San Diego Mission Bay Resort, Plus New Menus
This spring, guests at San Diego Mission Bay Resort can create their very own private s’mores experience overlooking the Bay as the sun sets. The two-hour intimate experience is $150 for 8 guests, with the option to increase the package experience for more guests. The package comes with s’mores supplies, firewood, beach chairs and beverages (soda and bottled water). Reservations are required and can be booked here. Steps from the sand at Covewood, the resort’s signature restaurant, new seasonal Brunch, Dinner and Dessert menus feature decadent dishes such as Birria Benedict with chili braised short rib, Roasted Squash Masala and Baked Bananas Foster Alaska.
Spring Sightseeing Abroad the Bahia Belle
Slated to be held through September, the Bahia Resort Hotel and the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa have announced the return of the After Dark Cruise (21+ only) aboard the historic Bahia Belle sternwheeler. The Bahia Belle becomes Mission Bay’s ultimate party boat, featuring a DJ and live entertainment, cash bar and light snack offerings. Guests must be 21 years or older with a valid ID. The After Dark Cruise sets off at 9pm and returns at 11pm, and tickets are $15/passenger for hotels guests at the Bahia and Catamaran, and $25/passenger for non-hotel guests. On May 5, the Cinco de Mayo Cruise will keep the party going with DJ-spun music, scenic bay views with festive drink specials and light snacks.
